Prince William and Kate to appear in public this week for the first time in nearly two months

The Prince and Princess of Wales are returning to work this week after their summer holidays.

Prince William and Catherine will carry out a joint engagement in London on Thursday, months after they were last seen together in public.

The Wales family has been out of the country, spending time in Scotland with the King following a private holiday in the Greek islands.

The last time Prince William and Kate attended an event together was on July 13 for the men's final of Wimbledon.

They were joined by their two eldest children Prince George, 12, and Princess Charlotte, 10, for the match on centre court.

That outing was also the Princess of Wales' final public appearance before the summer break.

Kate wasn't completely out of the spotlight over the holiday period though, with Kensington Palace sharing the second of her Mother Nature videos along with an animated film made for her Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood

The family spent part of the summer in Kefalonia, an island in the Ionian Sea, and were said to be staying on board a luxury yacht, along with Kate's parents Carole and Michael Middleton, according to reports in local media.

They later travelled to the Scottish Highlands and stayed at Balmoral Castle with King Charles and the wider royal family.

The Prince and Princess of Wales, along with George and Charlotte, were seen driving to church at Crathie Kirk recently.

That outing made headlines as Kate was seen with a much lighter hair colour, captured through a car windscreen.

While it may have been the effects of the sun, her hair appeared almost blonde sparking speculation about whether the princess had used the summer break away from the cameras to experiment with her hair.

The mystery will be solved later this week when the Princess of Wales joins her husband for an event at the Natural History Museum.

The couple will visit the London museum's newly transformed gardens and meet children and young people taking part in learning programs which involve them connecting with nature and boosting biodiversity in urban areas.

Kate will be there in her role as royal patron of the Natural History Museum.

The themes of of environmental innovation and connecting young people to nature are causes both supported by the royal couple.

In 2020, Prince William launched the Earthshot Prize Awards aiming to solve some of the world's most pressing environmental issues.

The princess has previously detailed how she found solace when spending time outside during her cancer journey, pointing to the healing powers of nature.

And in 2019, the princess launched the 'Back to Nature' garden at the Chelsea Flower Show to spotlight the power of nature in enriching early childhood development.

The three Wales children are back at school this week, too.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, seven, are back at Lambrook School in Berkshire.

It will be Prince George's final year there, as he is due to start at a senior school from mid-2026.

Kensington Palace has not yet announced which school George will attend, with Eton rumoured to be in the running.
