Furious Prince William confronts photographer caught filming Cambridge family near their home: 'You're outrageous, you're disgusting'

A furious Prince William has been caught on camera in a heated exchange with a photographer who the Duke of Cambridge says was filming his family during a private outing in Sandringham.

Kensington Palace says the video is a breach of the Cambridge family's privacy and has sought to have it removed from various websites.

William was with his wife Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, and their children riding bikes when they came across the photographer near their home Anmer Hall in Norfolk.

The royal confronted the man and asked him to stop filming his family, who are off camera and are not seen in the video.

But the photographer appears to deny his request and continues to film the duke, who is seen calling the police on the phone.

"You want to have this altercation, you can have this altercation," Prince William says to the photographer.

"How dare you behave like how you've done with my children? How dare you! You are stalking around here looking for us and our children.

"I'm out for a quiet bike ride with my children on a Saturday, and you won't even give me your name.

"You're outrageous, you're disgusting. You really are."

Kate can be heard saying, "We came with our children... you drove past us outside of our house, I saw you".

The photographer says, "No I didn't, I haven't been near your house".

He denies trying to find the family saying, "I've just realised who it was".

But Prince William disagrees and says: "You didn't, you were out here looking for us. Don't pretend."

The video, which was viewed more than 20,000 times on Monday, was uploaded to YouTube four days ago, more than a year after the incident occurred.

Shorter versions was still available on TikTok on Tuesday.

The incident happened in January 2021 near the Cambridges' Anmer Hall home, on a quiet country lane.

The photographer claimed to have been in the area on public roads only looking for the Saturday Sandringham shoot.

Police arrived a short time later, according to some reports.

According to The Telegraph UK, Kensington Palace staff have asked for the video to be taken down, with lawyers for the Cambridges also writing to the photographer directly shortly after the dispute.

Prince William has a fraught relationship with the media and paparazzi and grew up watching his mother, Diana, battling with the attention.

He authorises a number of carefully selected photos and media opportunities with his children throughout the year in return for privacy the rest of the time.

Media in the UK will not publish photos of the Cambridge children, and even adult members of the royal family, in private.

However, there are other rules elsewhere particular across Europe and in the United States.

Photos of the Cambridge children often appear on social media and are sold to foreign outlets.
