Prince William and Kate visit youth projects in Scarborough to make massive announcement

The Prince and Princess of Wales visited the seaside town of Scarborough on Thursday.

Prince William and Kate made their first joint engagement in three weeks following their kids' school holidays.

They made two stops during their visit, which coincided with a massive announcement from them to leave "a lasting legacy of support for young people's mental health here in Scarborough".

The couple announced £345,000 ($613,500) worth of funding through their Royal Foundation for youth projects in the region, in collaboration with Two Ridings Community Foundation.

Catherine, Princess of Wales was layered up for the outing in a stunning monochromatic ensemble.

The royal wore a camel-coloured knitted turtleneck midi dress under a £460 ($818) Max&Co pure wool coat in the same autumnal hue.

She added a slightly darker, tan coloured, suede and leather woven waist belt by high street brand Boden, which retails for £60 ($106), for a little contrast.

Kate clutched a £295 ($524) Nano Montreal handbag from DeMellier London in the shade "deep toffee smooth" – a bag she previously carried during the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in June.

The Princess of Wales added similarly coloured heels and £5 ($8.80) gold hoop earrings to round out the accessories of the look.

Prince William also sported autumnal colours wearing a maroon jumper over his shirt and under a dark blue jacket, which was paired with navy chinos for the outing.

The couple both had their outfits completed with red poppies pinned to their lapels.

Prince William appeared cold on arrival at the coastal town in North Yorkshire, wringing his hands together as he approached their first stop at community hub The Street.

There, the prince and princess met the grant panel, which is made up of young people who have themselves been supported by local community organisations.

William and Kate heard how the funding will impact the local youth and then met with three local charitable organisations who are beneficiaries.

The couple then made their way to The Rainbow Centre, a place where anyone from the community of Scarborough can get help and support, meeting with staff and volunteers.

During their visit William and Kate, parents of three, showed off their Play-Doh skills as they met with a group of cute kids in the nursery.

The Prince and Princess of Wales also took part in a walkabout, meeting with locals before heading back to their new Windsor home.

The funding announcement from the royal couple will be divided among nine local organisations over the long term to boost places to provide services for youth mental health and wellbeing.

This includes boosting safe spaces, affordable sports and outdoor activities, youth work, creative workshops and mentoring.
