Kate honours Queen and Prince Philip's 73-year marriage at Duke of Edinburgh's funeral

Kate Middleton has paid tribute to the Queen and Prince Philip's 73-year marriage.

The Duchess of Cambridge's all black ensemble for the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral was coupled with a black face mask and a statement pearl necklace.

The sentimental jewels are borrowed from Her Majesty, and Kate has previously worn them to an official dinner celebrating the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh's 70th wedding anniversary in 2017.

The four-row pearl choker with statement diamond clasp was made by the Queen's official jewellers, Garrard, from pearls gifted to Her Majesty by the Japanese government in the 1970s.

Prior to the duchess donning the jewels four years ago, Diana had worn them.

The Princess of Wales sported the necklace in 1982 during a State Banquet at Hampton Court Palace, during the visit of Queen Beatrix from the Netherlands.

The Duchess also wore the Bahrain Pearl drop earrings, which were a wedding gift to the Queen and also on long-term loan from the Queen "as a sign of loyalty".

Kate also partially covered her eyes by donning a headpiece which featured netting over her eyes.

The Duchess wore a black Roland Mouret ensemble with a large bow along the neckline for the final farewell to her grandfather-in-law.
