Prince Harry and Meghan Markle pay tribute to Prince Philip

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are the first members of the British Royal Family to pay a personal tribute to Prince Philip.

Following the news of his death, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's foundation Archewell turned their website black with a comment to the Duke of Edinburgh.

"Thank you for your service...you will be greatly missed," a message online reads.

Above the short statement to Prince Harry's grandfather, it was written: "In loving memory of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh 1921-2021."

Other members of the family have publicly shared small signs of their grief as they privately mourn.

Both Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall's social media accounts and Prince William and Kate Middleton's social media accounts re-posted the official statement that was released.

"It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

"His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle."

They also changed their Twitter banners to a black and white image of the patriarch of the family in tribute.
