Now that Prince Harry is in the UK preparing for his grandfather's funeral, speculation has turned to what the Duke of Sussex will wear for the event.

Harry, 36, arrived home on Monday ahead of Prince Philip's funeral on Saturday.

While it has been confirmed Harry will join the funeral procession, walking behind Prince Philip's coffin alongside his father Prince Charles and his brother Prince William, as well as select members of the royal household, he may not wear his military uniform.

Harry was required to hand back his honourary military appointments earlier this year following a review of the terms of her and Meghan's split from the monarchy.

Only royals who hold honourary military appointments wear uniforms.

Although this doesn't change the fact he served in the military for ten years, in active duty, completing two tours of Afghanistan. Prince Philip himself had served as a naval officer during World War II.

It is thought Harry may wear a suit instead but could chose to wear the medals awarded to him during his time as Captain in the Army as he has done previously.

He has previously worn his Queen's Golden Jubilee medal from 2002, his 2008 Afghanistan Operational Service medal and his Queen's Diamond Jubilee medal from 2012 to events.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex resigned as senior working members of the British royal family in January 2020 and have since relocated to the US where they purchased a home in Montecito, California where they remain with their son Archie who turns two on May 6.

Meghan is expecting the couple's second child, a daughter, later this year and wasn't able to join Harry for the trip to the UK upon medical advice.

Prince William and Prince Harry released separate statements about their grandfather, within minutes of each other, prompting speculation the two are communicating ahead of the funeral.

Harry's statement read: "My grandfather was a man of service, honour and great humour. He was authentically himself, with a seriously sharp wit, and could hold the attention of any room due to his charm—and also because you never knew what he might say next.

"He will be remembered as the longest reigning consort to the Monarch, a decorated serviceman, a Prince and a Duke. But to me, like many of you who have lost a loved one or grandparent over the pain of this past year, he was my grandpa: master of the barbecue, legend of banter, and cheeky right 'til the end."
