What Kate Middleton's photo of Prince Philip and Prince George says about her relationship with the duke
Last week, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared an adorable image of Prince Philip and Prince George.
The Duke of Edinburgh is seen sitting with his great-grandson in a carriage in Norfolk, smiling at the camera in the previously unseen photograph, taken by Kate Middleton.
"As they say a picture tells a thousand words, and everything you need to know about the duke as a doting great-grandfather is apparent in that gorgeous picture," royal commentator Katie Nicholl tells 9Honey.

The royal biographer adds that the duke's relaxed persona in the photo is testament to his relationship with the duchess, who is behind the camera.
"We all know the duke didn't have much patience when having his photo taken and yet his granddaughter-in-law has managed to capture the most enchanting and illuminating image," Nicholl says.
"I think that clearly reflects how happy Philip was in that moment, how proud he was in that moment and how willing he was for Kate to capture it.

"He was clearly a great adventurer and the Cambridge children would have absolutely loved that. What a treat for their great-grandfather visit them on a coach with horses and I think how wonderful that Kate was there to capture it.
"It is rare to see him so relaxed and he's not one to really play up for the cameras or pose without wanting it over in a hurry but [here] he looks absolutely thrilled to be photographed alongside his great-grandson."

As was the unguarded moment between the duke and great-granddaughter Mia Tindall — an image shared by Mia's dad Mike Tindall last week.
Nicholl says the duchess's photographic skills are a real win for the public.

"We have a huge advantage to the Duchess of Cambridge being such a talented photographer in capturing these unguarded, familiar, intimate family pictures, which are just such a delight to see," Nicholl tells 9Honey.

The Duchess of Cambridge was also the one to capture the first photos of newborns Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
Kate is also regularly credited as the snapper on their birthday photos, along with other key life moments, like their first days of school.
