Prince Harry and Meghan are 'done' with criticising royal family, want to 'move on' author says

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are "done" with trashing the royal family and "do want to move on".

That's according to The Times journalist Valentine Low, whose bombshell book Courtiers: The Hidden Power behind the Crown has be re-released this week following an update.

Prince Harry and Meghan left their places as senior working royals in 2020 and have since given multiple interviews detailing their unhappiness while still part of The Firm.

The duke's memoir Spare, published in January, revealed intimate details about his father King Charles and brother Prince William, including private conversations between the Princess of Wales and Meghan.

The royal family has stayed silent on the book, refusing to weigh in on the drama.

Now, Low believes Prince Harry and Meghan are finally ready to let go of their grievances.

"I think Harry and Meghan do want to move on," Low told Good Morning Britain.

"I've spoken to their people who, basically, in terms of accusations against the royal family, they say, 'We're done, we've done that'.

"It's not that there won't be any shots because there might be shots… but I don't think that there will be a concerted thing like a book or a program or a big interview. They've learned… Meghan's not stupid.

"She knows you've got to do something positive now, you can't carry on harking on that same negative message."

Low also gave his thoughts on Prince Harry's decision to dial back on claims that the royal family was racist.

During the promotion for Spare, the duke denied telling Oprah Winfrey the royal family was racist instead claiming it was the British press who went with that line.

"Harry had two years to put the record straight and he stayed silent. When the evil British press were accusing the royal family of racism he had two years to put that straight and he never did," Low said.

In Courtiers, Low revealed it was the Princess of Wales who insisted on issuing a strongly-worded statement in response to the interview.

The "recollections may vary" line was included at her request.

In his book Low writes: "It was Kate who clearly made the point, 'History will judge this statement and unless this phrase or a phrase like it is included, everything that they have said will be taken as true'."

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, he said about the Prince and Princess of Wales: "That's where the future lies".

He pointed to recent polls, which show a surge in popularity for not only King Charles but Prince William and Kate.

"The real popularity is with the next generation."

But Low believes Prince William's relationship with his brother will never be the same again.

"Even if they make peace, which at the moment is not looking very likely, it will still be not how it was.

"I don't think the relationship will ever return to the innocent days before they fell out."
