Meghan and Harry 'declaring war' on Camilla with 'deafening silence' after Queen Consort title

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been accused of "declaring war" on the Duchess of Cornwall following confirmation she will one day be known as 'Queen Consort'.

Relations between Prince Harry and Meghan, and Prince Charles' wife, are said to be frosty due to longstanding tension which began when the Sussexes were still working royals.

British journalist Tom Bower said the "silence" from Harry and Meghan after the Queen's announcement on February 6 was "surely deliberate".

Bower said the Sussexes "sent none of the customary congratulations or messages of loyalty to their family in London".

"Their insult was surely deliberate," Bower writes in The Sun.

"It has been said by a number of people that Harry has always disliked Camilla and blamed her for wrecking his parents' marriage.

"Perhaps the Sussexes' deafening silence is Meghan's way of declaring war.

"It is believed that she has never liked Camilla, and I am sure the feelings are reciprocated."

He claims Camilla was "suspicious" about Meghan from the early days of her relationship, and whirlwind romance, with Prince Harry.

"She found it hard to believe that Meghan would sacrifice her career and independence to serve silently as a team player devoted to the monarchy," Bower says.

He adds that Prince Harry's "silence" since the Queen's decision to confirm Camilla as future Queen Consort "bodes ill".

"With female intuition, Camilla senses that just as Meghan is believed to have destroyed her relationship with her own family, she is doing the same to Harry's," he says.

While Harry and Meghan have yet to issue anything official in response to the Queen's Jubilee message last week, neither have the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Apart from Prince William and Kate's social media account 'liking' a tweet from Buckingham Palace about the Camilla news, the couple hasn't issued any form of public support or congratulations to the Duchess of Cornwall.

Prince Charles is the only member of the royal family to issue a formal response to the Queen and her Jubilee message.

"We are deeply conscious of the honour represented by my mother's wish," Prince Charles said in a statement.

"As we have sought together to serve and support Her Majesty and the people of our communities, my darling wife has been my own steadfast support throughout."

Camilla, too, shared her sentiments during a public engagement last week saying she felt "very touched" and "very, very honoured" that she will one day be known as 'Queen Consort'.
