Prince Harry could have US visa revoked due to admitted drug use

Prince Harry could be at risk of having his US visa revoked after he admitted to using illegal drugs during a recent live therapy session as well as in his memoir Spare.

It was Meghan Markle nemesis and Sky News host, British media personality Piers Morgan, who made the claim about the royal's potential visa problem in the US.

Morgan, 57, speculated Harry, 38, may have his visa revoked or, if he leaves the country to fly to the UK for his father King Charles' coronation in May, might find it difficult to re-enter the country or even be sent back.

"Harry has barely finished the global family trashing tour in support of his treacherous family trashing memoir, inevitably he's decided the world hasn't heard quite enough from him," Morgan began, referencing Harry's recent live therapy session with Dr Gabor Mate during which he spoke of using various illegal drugs including marijuana and hallucinogens.

"So Harry's latest wheeze is a live therapy session with Dr Gabor Mate – a famed trauma expert – in which he reminded us again that he, Harry, is the world's biggest victim."

Morgan continued: "Another compelling reason why we don't want them at the king's coronation. We might end up being stuck with them for good."

This was in reference to the risk posed to Harry's visa how he has admitted to illegal drug use.

Prince Harry wrote about smoking cannabis while living in Nottingham Cottage in 2015 and cocaine use during his younger years which he admitted "did nothing for me."

"It was more a social thing and gave me a sense of belonging for sure, I think it probably also made me feel different to the way I was feeling, which was kind of the point," Harry said of cocaine during the therapy session. "Marijuana is different, that actually really did help me."

Of the hallucinogenic ayahuasca which he says he consumed amongst the "proper people," Harry said: "It removed it all for me and brought me a sense of relaxation, release, comfort, a lightness that I managed to hold on to for a period of time. I started doing it recreationally and then started to realise how good it was for me.

"I would say it is one of the fundamental parts of my life that changed me and helped me deal with the traumas and pains of the past."

He said in particular the experience helped him cope with the death of his mother Princess Diana who died in a car crash in 1997.

While cannabis is legal in California where Prince Harry and his family currently resided, ayahuasca is is permitted for religious reasons only.

Travelling with cannabis and ayahuasca is less clear, however the risk to Harry's visa is real, with TV personality Nigella Lawson stopped from boarding a US-bound flight in 2014 following her admission four months earlier she had previously taken cocaine.

She was later able to resume travel to the US.

It is understood Prince Harry obtained a US O1 visa reserved for people who demonstrate an "extraordinary ability." This would allow Harry to live and work in the US.

It isn't known if the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will attend the coronation on May 6, with the couple christening daughter Lilibet in a ceremony in Los Angeles last week.

"I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3 by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor," a spokesperson for the Sussexes confirmed to 9Honey.

The announcement confirmed Harry and Meghan have accepted a "prince" and "princess" title for their children, thought to be an olive branch from King Charles upon his asscension to the British throne following the death of Queen Elizabeth in 2022.
