Prince Harry 'quite keen' for his children to experience a British education, former royal butler claims

Prince Harry may be considering a return to the UK to give his children an opportunity to experience British education.

Grant Harrold, former royal butler to King Charles, says Harry, 40, is "quite keen" for Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four, to attend school in the UK for at least part of their education.

In an interview with Study Dog, an AI-powered learning platform in the UK, former royal butler to King Charles III, Grant Harrold said: "It's very likely and completely possible."

Harrold explained: "If they have their younger education in America, I'm sure their father will be quite keen to have a bit of a British education. But then it depends on how the relationship is with the rest of the family when the time comes."

His comments come days after news broke of reported peace talks being held in London between representatives for King Charles and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

It isn't known who initiated the talks.

Prince Harry revealed in a BBC interview earlier this year that he is no longer in contact with his family and is concerned about his father's health.

King Charles, 76, has been battling an undisclosed form of cancer since early 2024.

Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet haven't been in the UK since Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee celebration in early June 2022.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex lost their full-time security when they resigned as senior working royals in January 2020. Harry lost his final bid to reinstate security this year, telling the BBC he didn't feel it was safe to bring his family back to his homeland as a result.

Meghan, 43, has previously spoken about her children's education, in an interview that appeared in The Cut in August 2022.

In the interview, she expressed concerns over her children attending school in the UK.

"If Archie were in school in the UK, I'd never be able to do school pickup and drop-off without it being a royal photo call with a press pen of 40 people snapping pictures," she said.

"Sorry. I have a problem with that. That doesn't make me obsessed with privacy. That makes me a strong and good parent protecting my child."

Although this isn't the case with the children of the Prince and Princess of Wales, owing to an arrangement between the British royal family and the UK press which protects the privacy of Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven, in exchange for select opportunities.

Archie and Lilibet currently attend separate schools in the US, with Prince Archie in his primary education years and Princess Lilibet still in preschool.

Perhaps they will follow in their father's footsteps and attend a British school when they are older, or even a university if and when the time comes.

Prince Harry attended the Ludgrove School in Berkshire for his primary years and then Eton College for his high school years, a prestigious boarding school that Prince William also attended.

Following their high school years, Prince William enrolled in the University of St Andrews in Scotland, while Prince Harry joined the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst before serving with the British army for 10 years.
