Prince Harry says 'I was anxious about 30, I'm excited about 40' in new statement ahead of milestone birthday

Prince Harry says he is "excited" for his upcoming milestone birthday, in a new statement released overnight.

The Duke of Sussex, who turns 40 on Sunday, admitted he doesn't feel the same anxiety he did when going into his 30s, as he reflected on how his life has changed in the decade since.

"I was anxious about 30, I'm excited about 40," he told the BBC, in a statement released through an Archewell spokesperson.

"Whatever the age, my mission is to continue showing up and doing good in the world".

Prince Harry's Invictus Games, started in 2014 - the year he turned 30 - is this year marking it's 10th anniversary as it continues to bring together injured servicemen and women through the sporting competition.

However at the time, the British army officer who had just returned from his second tour of Afghanistan, was "going through a bad moment" and having "terrifying panic attacks", he later revealed in his memoir, Spare.

Harry had also just broken up with his then-girlfriend Cressida Bonas, months before turning 30.

Since 2014, things have turned around for the British royal.

He met American actress Meghan Markle in 2016, the pair tied the knot in 2018 and have moved countries and had two kids - Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet - in the years since.

"Becoming a father of two incredibly kind and funny kids has given me a fresh perspective on life, as well as sharpening my focus in all my work," he said in the statement.

"Being a dad is one of life's greatest joys and has only made me more driven and more committed to making this world a better place."

Of course, the past decade has also seen its fair share of turmoil for the King's youngest son.

He relinquished his role as a senior working member of the British royal family, released his bombshell-filled memoir and docu-series, took the press to court, and dealt publicly with an on-going family rift., and dealt publicly with an on-going family

However, Harry is optimistic about what lies ahead, saying: "Bring on the next decade."
