Prince Charles and Camilla view floral tributes left for Prince Philip

Prince Charles and Camilla have spent time looking over public tributes to Prince Philip.

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall looked over a selection of items at Marlborough House Gardens on Thursday morning (evening AEST), where the tributes are being collected.

A range of flowers, cards, messages and gifts left by members of the public outside outside Buckingham Palace and other London royal residences have been moved to the private gardens by Royal Parks staff.

The Duchess of Cornwall, who was dressed in black, and Prince Charles, in a navy suit, appeared to take their time reading all the messages as they made their way around the garden.

Following the death of the Duke of Edinburgh on Friday, an outpouring of public support meant members of the public were leaving tributes for the 99-year-old outside various palaces across the country.

Despite pleas from the royal family not to leave physical items, well-wishers continued to do so across the weekend.

Staff have been clearing tributes from in front of palaces regularly to avoid crowds gathering to look amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Restrictions are still high in the UK, leading Buckingham Palace to launch an online condolence book instead of a physical document for people to sign.

They also suggested making a donation to a charity of choice instead of leaving flowers.
