Sarah Ferguson 'scrambling' to make up the numbers for Andrew's 60th

It looks like Prince Andrew could be gearing up for a lonely 60^th birthday as friends "shun" the royal amid the ongoing Epstein scandal.

The Duke of York will celebrate his big day at his and ex-wife Sarah Ferguson's shared home in Windsor, Royal Lodge, where Andrew planned a lavish private dinner party.

But unlike the duke's flashy 50^th party at St James' Palace (which attracted many rich and famous guests to the royal residence for a weekend of revelry), this party is set to be a lot smaller.

The Daily Mail reported that so many guests have said they're "unavailable" to attend the party that Sarah has had to invite a second round of guests in a bid to fill seats.

It has been suggested that friends of the duke are eager to avoid the scandal that has surrounded Andrew since August of last year, when he was first named in relation to the Jeffrey Epstein sex scandal.

In the months since, Andrew has been accused of having sex with an underage woman, Epstein's alleged "sex slave" Virginia Giuffre.

The duke also gave a 'train wreck' BBC interview about Epstein that prompted massive public backlash, leading him to "step back" from royal life and keep a low profile since.

Just last month the FBI claimed that Andrew had given "zero cooperation" with their ongoing investigation into the Epstein scandal, reigniting the outrage against him.

As the drama unfolded over the last few months, many of Andrew's high-profile pals have chosen to stay quiet, neither condemning nor supporting the Queen's second son.

Now his birthday party appears to reflect a similar trend, as 'unavailable' friends reportedly steer clear of the private celebrations.

But Andrew's birthday isn't the only event that has been overshadowed by his scandal; his daughter, Princess Beatrice, allegedly had her wedding delayed several times because of the drama.

After announcing her engagement to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in September last year, Beatrice had to wait months before announcing wedding details amid developments in her father's scandal.

"This will have cast a black cloud over the planning stages, but hopefully Beatrice will be judged on her own merits as opposed to those of her father," 9Honey's royal columnist Victoria Arbiter said last year.

"She is not the guilty party here, and her wedding day should be celebrated in the same way as any other bride."

Beatrice reportedly considered trying the knot overseas, but opted to remain in the UK for her wedding, which Buckingham Palace announced will happen on 29 May at the Chapel Royal at St James' Palace.
