Princess Beatrice's wedding date announced by Buckingham Palace

Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi's wedding date has finally been announced by Buckingham Palace.

In a statement, they confirmed the rumoured date of May 29 and the previously reported location of Buckingham Palace for the reception.

"The wedding of HRH Princess Beatrice of York and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi will take place on Friday 29 May 2020," the statement said, confirming the spring UK wedding.

"Her Majesty The Queen has kindly given permission for the ceremony to take place at The Chapel Royal, St James's Palace.

"The ceremony will be followed by a private reception, given by The Queen, in the gardens of Buckingham Palace."

It will be the first royal wedding to be held at the Palace since William and Kate's 2011 nuptials.

However, they're expected to be a much more "low key affair" than the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's big day, People magazine reports.

Beatrice's cousin Harry and her sister, Princess Eugenie, both opted for Windsor Castle for their 'I Dos'.

Beatrice and Edo became engaged while on holidays in Italy in September 2019, with Princess Eugenie taking the photos of the happy couple moments after.

The Princess of York has reportedly delayed her nuptials twice in light of the controversy surrounding her father Prince Andrew's association with Jeffrey Epstein and drama that closely followed of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan stepping back from the royal family.

"This will have cast a black cloud over the planning stages, but hopefully Beatrice will be judged on her own merits as opposed to those of her father," 9Honey's royal columnist Victoria Arbiter said last year.

"She is not the guilty party here, and her wedding day should be celebrated in the same way as any other bride."

While it was originally thought Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson's eldest daughter may have an overseas wedding in light of the recent scandals, it seems the royals are keen to make it an occasion to bring "the family back together" after the past few months.

"The Queen has asked everyone to come together to put on a united front," a source told The Sun.

"The press officers of all the palaces hope to portray the Beatrice wedding as the big event that brings the family back together again."

It's understood the father of the bride will walk his daughter down the aisle despite having stepped down from royal duties following the fallout over his association with Epstein, which included his car-crash interview on the BBC's Newsnight late last year.
