Prince and Princess of Luxembourg welcome their third child

The Prince and Princess of Luxembourg have welcomed their third child, Prince Balthasar Felix Karl.

The happy news was shared on the royal family's social media channels on Monday. The announcement read: "It is with great joy that we announce the birth of our son.

"The prince was born on 7th January 2024 at the Maternité Grande-Duchesse Charlotte," Félix and Claire said in a statement shared by the Grand Ducal Court of Luxembourg.

"The newborn Prince will be named Balthasar Felix Karl. He weighs 3.220 kg and measures 50 cm. Prince Balthasar and Princess Claire are in perfect health."

A photo of the baby boy is yet to be released. He is the seventh grandchild for Luxembourg's Grand Duke Henri and his wife Grand Duchess Maria Teresa and seventh in line to the throne of Luxembourg.

The Prince and Princess of Luxembourg are already parents to Princess Amalia, nine, and Prince Liam, seven.

The royal couple married in 2013, welcoming their first child a year later.

The Luxembourg royal family continues to grow with Prince Felix's younger sister Princess Alexandra expecting her first child with her husband Nicolas Bagory later this year.

The couple married in April 2023 in a civil ceremony at the Luxembourg Town Hall.
