Prince Albert of Monaco has tested positive to COVID-19 for a second time.

The 64-year-old's diagnosis was confirmed in a message from the Prince's Palace on Wednesday.

The statement read: "The Prince's Palace announces that H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco has tested positive for COVID-19."

The message added that Prince Albert was asymptomatic and that his health was no cause for concern.

It did not include any details about whether Prince Albert's children, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, seven, have contracted the virus.

There was also no update on his wife Princess Charlene, who recently finished a four-month stay in a Swiss health clinic.

In March, the Prince's Palace confirmed Charlene had returned to Monaco where she was to continue her "convalescence in the Principality with her husband and her children by her side".

Charlene had been receiving treatment at the private clinic since November when she returned briefly to Monaco after spending six months in South Africa.

At the time Prince Albert said his wife had been suffering "exhaustion, both emotional and physical" and voluntarily entered the treatment facility.
