First official photos from the royal wedding of the year released

The first official photos from the wedding of Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling have been released.

The 19th-in-line-to-the-throne married for the second time on Saturday in a private ceremony at All Saints Church in Cirencester, which was attended by many senior members of the royal family.

The photos were taken straight after the ceremony and during the reception, which was held at Gatcombe Park, the long-time home of Princess Anne.  

Both parts of the wedding were curated by Peregrine and Caroline Armstrong-Jones.

Peregrine is the half brother of Princess Margaret’s former husband Antony Armstrong-Jones, and is the uncle of Princess Margaret’s children David Armstong-Jones, the Earl of Snowdon, and Lady Sarah Chatto.

The wedding, which went off without a hitch despite the rain, was attended by key members of the royal family, including King Charles and Queen Camilla and the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The groom’s mother, Princess Anne, the Princess Royal, was seen smiling as she left the church after the ceremony alongside her husband Sir Timothy Laurence. Also thrilled was the groom’s sister Zara Tindall, who was pictured in a lavender dress by Aussie designer Rebecca Valance.

Phillips, 48, was previously married to Canadian Autumn Kelly, from 2008 to 2021. They share two children, Savannah, 15, and Isla, 14, who were on bridesmaid duty beside their new stepsister, Georgina, 13.

Sperling, a paediatric nurse, who will now be known as Harriet Phillips, shares Georgina with her former husband, fitness instructor Antonio St John Sperling.

For the special occasion, she chose a gown by New Zealand fashion designer Emilia Wickstead, which featured French lace.

She paired the dress with Jimmy Choo shoes and a tiara from the London-based jeweller Pragnell, which also designed her wedding ring.

It had been predicted before the big day that she might have borrowed a tiara from her new mother-in-law.

But the bride chose to wear an Edwardian tiara from Pragnell with its own unique royal history. The tiara, which featured diamonds and pearls, was worn to the coronations of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II.

Sperling’s earrings were also borrowed from the jewellery house, the same company behind the late Queen’s 1946 engagement ring.

Her Emilia Wickstead gown featured floral designs in the lace, inspired by the flora that grows in the areas where the bride and groom previously lived.
