Mike Tindall shares sweet details about son's joint royal christening with Princess Eugenie's baby

Former rugby star Mike Tindall has revealed sweet details of he and wife Zara Tindall's joint christening of their baby son Lucas and Princess Eugenie's son August.

In a podcast, the grandson-in-law of Queen Elizabeth described the joint ceremony as "lovely" and joked his eight-month-old son even enjoyed having holy water poured on his head.

"It was a lovely day," Mike, who is married to the Queen's granddaughter Zara, 40, said on his podcast The Good, The Bad and the Rugby.

"I took him swimming in the morning, so I think I readied him for it. He was quite looking forward to it when the water was coming out."

Holy water from Prince Charles' recent visit to Jordan is believed to have been used during the baptism.

The Prince of Wales reportedly brought back around a dozen bottles from the River Jordan, where Christians believe Jesus Christ was baptised, to use for future royal baptisms.

The night before the royal christening, Mike was also a guest at a dinner celebrating the 150^th anniversary of England Rugby at Twickenham Stadium in London.

Mike also told the podcast he and Zara then "snuck off" to have a date night in Richmond-Upon-Thames following England's win against South Africa.

"[We] snuck off… for a couple of beers in Richmond," he said. "And then we had the christening on Sunday. So, it was lovely."

The baptism, which jointly celebrated the christening of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's nine-month-old son August in a royal first, was held at the Royal Chapel of All Saints in Windsor.

Queen Elizabeth, 95, attended the event in a lime green outfit, one of her first outings since the monarch's recent health issues.

Zara's mother Princess Anne also attended the christening alongside Eugenie's parents Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.

According to The Sun, Prince William and wife Kate Middleton were also present at the event.

The double baptism was marked with tragedy after Eugenie's husband Jack Brooksbank lost his father, George, just days before August was christened.

George, 73, died last week after being "ill for some time", the Press Association reports.

The day before the christening was also the 74^th wedding anniversary of the Queen and Prince Philip, the first since the Duke of Edinburgh died age 99 in April.
