It turns out Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, has been imagining life as a princess for years.

An old blog post written by the 37-year-old has been unearthed this week, in which she talks about her childhood dream to be a royal.

"Little girls dream of being princesses," she wrote on her now defunct lifestyle blog The Tig in 2014.

"I, for one, was all about She-Ra, Princess of Power."

She-Ra is a reference to a ‘80s cartoon featuring superheros named He-Man and She-Ra who were able to transform themselves into royal superheros when needed.

Meghan wrote the blog post ahead of an interview with Princess Alia Al-Sensussi, exiled Libyan royal turned humanitarian.

In the piece, the Suits star admitted she had a "had a bit of a 'pinch-myself-I'm-emailing-with-a-princess' moment.

She then went on to reference Kate Middleton, the woman who would one day become her sister-in-law.

"Grown women seem to retain this childhood fantasy," she wrote.

"Just look at the pomp and circumstance surrounding the royal wedding and endless conversations about Princess Kate."

Just four years after the post was published, Meghan was the star of her own royal wedding to Prince Harry on May 19 2018, with the entire world watching on.

The Tig, which focused primarily on "travel, food, fashion and beauty", was closed in April 2017, supposedly due to her relationship with Prince Harry becoming more serious.
