Meghan Markle reveals why the fourth of July holiday has a deeper meaning for her family
Meghan Markle has given her followers a peek behind the curtain, sharing the sweet fourth of July tradition Prince Harry started.
The Duchess of Sussex took to Instagram to share a photo of some red, white and blue cupcakes with her 3.9 million followers.
While it may be a celebration of independence for the rest of the US, to Harry and Meghan it signifies something a little more personal.

In the caption of her post, Meghan explained that her second date with the British royal was in fact on July 4, 2016.
With Harry born and raised arguably as British as they come, it's probably fair to say that Meghan wasn't expecting any kind of celebration.
Little did she know, Harry had a plan up his sleeve.
"[Harry] brought me cupcakes to celebrate," she wrote.
"Now, all these years later, our two children are in on the tradition.
"Happy Independence Day! May your day be as sweet as these cupcakes 🧁".

In the image Meghan shared, two different kinds of cupcakes sat on a tray, one with white icing and faces made from blueberries and strawberries, and the other with a piped red, white and blue swirl icing with what appears to be a peace sign made of chocolate sitting on top.
The duchess also shared a sweet snap of her and her husband cuddled up, laughing, and another of a cupcake with white frosting and a smudged "4th of July" written in red icing.

While her grid post was very wholesome, Meghan had a little more fun on her story where she shared her "4th of July Cocktail Hour" recipe.
In the video, Meghan showed how to make the concoction with instructions written over the top.
"Muddle raspberries. Add ice. Gin & tonic (or spirit of your choosing). Top with blueberries. Garnish with min. Cheers with the ones you love!" she wrote.
