Man confronted by Meghan's bodyguard for Wimbledon selfie breaks his silence

The man behind that Wimbledon selfie has broken his silence.

Hasan Hasanov, 58, has talked about his run in with The Duchess of Sussex's protection officers but says he didn't actually realise Meghan Markle was right there.

"I honestly couldn’t really care less about taking a picture of Meghan, Harry or any of the royals — and, if I did, I’d ask first," Hasanov told The Sun in an exclusive interview.

"I was much more interested in getting a video of Roger Federer in action," he added.

The oil and gas safety engineer from South London is a dedicated tennis fan, who cued from 5am to secure $45 on the day seats.

"It seemed crazy to me because all I did was take a selfie to send to my wife," Hasanov said of his prime seats.

"I was in the best seat I’d ever had in 15 years of queuing up for Wimbledon and wanted to show off because she didn’t get out of bed to join me."

The granddad said he couldn't believe his luck with the tickets he'd managed to nab, despite being number 1,400 in the line.

Hasanov said despite the word from Meghan's bodyguard, he didn't realise his brush with Royalty until his daughter sent him a photo of the paper the next day.

"I won’t be getting cross about this because — to be honest — I had no idea what was going on until days later. And I’ll stay a fan of the royals," he said of the incident, which prompted much debate.

Hollywood star and former tennis WAG, Tatum O'Neal, said she found the story "so upsetting".

While UK TV host and commentator Piers Morgan slammed Meghan's hopes for privacy at such a public event.
