Megan Markle's friends have rallied to support the star's decision to resign, along with her husband, as a 'senior' member of the British Royal Family.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made their bombshell announcement in a statement on their website and also posted on Instagram, which is said to have enraged members of The Firm who were not consulted first.

Prince Harry and Meghan thanked fans for their support but revealed: "After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution."

"And that folks, is what power looks like," she tweeted about the announcement.

In their statement, Harry and Meghan revealed they plan to: "step back as 'senior' members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen."
