Meghan 'wasn't too keen' on having to live in smaller palace following royal wedding
Meghan Markle didn't understand her lower status within the royal fold, according to royal author Tom Quinn.
Quinn spoke to the Pod Save the Queen podcast about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, claiming Meghan was "shunted off" that she and Harry weren't given a more glamorous residence similar to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle lived at Nottingham Cottage located on the grounds of Kensington Palace after their marriage, while Prince William and Kate Middleton reside within the walls of Kensington Palace in apartment 1A.

"I think that actually, she wasn't too keen on that," he claimed. "It seemed like they were being shunted off to a little prefab in the grounds."
Frogmore Cottage in Windsor was then gifted to Harry and Meghan and underwent extensive renovations ahead of the birth of their son Archie.

Quinn said Meghan was "disappointed" by Frogmore Cottage, despite the £2.4 (AUD$4.32) renovation.
Quinn said Meghan felt she was "away from everything" at Frogmore Cottage.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex resigned as senior working members of the British royal family in January 2020. At first they moved to Canada but have not settled in California in the US.

Their current home is described as a sprawling mansion worth a reported AUD$19.03 million and includes nine bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, a pool, tennis court, tea house and children's cottage.

Their neighbours include Oprah Winfrey, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ellen DeGeneres and Ariana Grande.
Harry and Meghan spoke about their disappointment with royal life during a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021. The couple spoke of a lack of support during their initial months as a married couple working for the monarchy.
More serious claims made during the interview included one of racism which saw the couple accusing a yet to be named senior royal of discussing the colour of Archie's skin ahead of this birth and a lack of support for Meghan after she reached out for help with her mental health.
