Meghan Markle is set to star in an upcoming cooking show.

While this might come as a shock move to some, the Duchess of Sussex actually has a long history as a foodie.

Before becoming a royal, the Suits actress was a known lover of all things food and wine, so it's no surprise she's branching into the lifestyle realm with her new brand American Riviera Orchard and the TV series, to air on Netflix.

The site featured an array of articles covering everything from mental health and exercise to food and wine.

Her recipes were mostly centered around fresh ingredients with bold, adventurous flavour combinations that somehow always seemed to work.

Meghan even had a simple zucchini recipe go viral at one point.

in 2016, Meghan appeared on an episode of the Today show in the US to promote her blog and the new season of her hit show.

After joining the royal family, the duchess still held onto her foodie roots.

Her first solo project as a royal was her efforts alongside Hubb Community Kitchen, teaming up to support the families of victims and survivors of the Grenfell Tower Fire.

They launched a cookbook titled Together, and she stayed involved with the group for many years to come, speaking with members on the third anniversary of the fire.

"I think back to when I met all of you, and how you had all come together in the wake of what you experienced in your community," she said via a video call from her home in California.

"And now what you have done is such an inspiration, you continue to give back, you continue to to put love in action.

"And that's really what Hubb is all about... we know it means love but you are the example of love in action, and that is your purpose."
