The announcement that Meghan Markle’s first solo royal project would be the launch of a charity cookbook came as a pleasant surprise for fans.

However, it seems the idea wasn’t completely out of left field for our newly-minted Duchess of Sussex.

The Duchess wrote the foreword for the recipe collection - which will raise money for the community affected by the Grenfell Tower fire tragedy - and touched on her love of food.

“I have a lifelong interest in the story of food—where it comes from, why we embrace it, and how it brings us together: the universal connection to community through the breaking of bread,” she explained.
