The official royal website has been updated to include Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor in the line of succession after her absence from the list was questioned.

Over the weekend, The Sun highlighted the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's daughter had not yet been added almost two months on from her birth on June 4.

The omission received widespread media coverage, and it would appear those running the royal.uk website were paying attention.

Now, the Succession page of the official website displays 'Miss Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor' as eighth in line to the throne, after her brother and father.

The addition of Lilibet's name to the website list is merely symbolic; her position in the succession line is hereditary, meaning she was born into her position.

Although Harry and Meghan resigned as senior working royals in early 2020, the duke and his children retain spots in the succession line.

The delay in Lilibet's name being added to the royal website — labelled a 'snub' by some — was questioned by ITV royal editor Chris Ship in a recent podcast episode.

"Where's Lilibet? I can forgive them a week or two but a month? Is this them being a little bit petulant?" Ship said on the Royal Rota podcast, according to The Sun.

"Is it them saying, 'We will get around to it when ready?' It does feel like to me, maybe, they are making a point."

The Succession section had been previously updated to include Princess Eugenie's son August Brooksbank, born in February, and Zara Tindall's son Lucas, born in March.

However, according to The Sun, August was added 61 days after his birth — slightly longer than the delay in Lilibet's name appearing.

When Archie was born in May 2019, his name was added after just 15 days.

There'll be yet another succession line shuffle later in the year when Princess Beatrice welcomes her first child with husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

Here's what the succession line — which dates back to the 17th century and is influenced by both descent and parliamentary statute — currently looks like:
