Rod Stewart's off-the-cuff remark to King Charles about his recent state visit to the US has raised eyebrows.
The 81-year-old crossed paths with the King, 77, at The King's Trust's 50th Anniversary Celebration at Royal Albert Hall in London on May 11.
Charles greeted a line-up of celebrities at the event, and upon reaching Stewart, the rocker praised the royal's recent trip.

According to a now-deleted video from the Daily Mail's Rebecca English, Stewart told the royal, "May I say, well done in the Americas... You were superb. Absolutely superb. You put that little rat bag in his place."
While others around them laughed at the comment, which presumably refers to US President Donald Trump, the King did not seem to respond to the remark.
Royalty, and especially the monarch, tend to remain politically neutral, and so Charles' reaction is in line with what he was taught to do in such situations.

Stewart was once close with Trump, with both of them residing in Florida.
But the Forever Young singer told Radio Times last year that he and the President are no longer friends due to the US government's ties and arms sales to Israel.
"How's that [Gaza] war ever gonna stop?" he commented.
"He's always been a bit of a man's man. I liked him for that. But he didn't, as far as I'm concerned, treat women very well. But since he became President, he became another guy. Somebody I didn't know."

Charles visited the US from April 27 to 30, on the heels of the White House Correspondents' Dinner shooting, to celebrate the bond between the US and the UK and 250 years since the former's independence from the latter.
The monarch was especially praised for his historic address to a session of Congress, which occurred 35 years after his mother Queen Elizabeth's one in 1991.
During it he said, "The challenges we face are too great for any one nation to bear alone. But in this unpredictable environment, our alliance cannot rest on past achievements, or assume that foundational principles simply endure.
"As my prime minister said last month: 'Ours is an indispensable partnership. We must not disregard everything that has sustained us for the last 80 years. Instead, we must build on it.' "
Trump was also impressed by the King's speech, telling media later that night, "He made a great speech. I was very jealous."
