What we can expect from Kate's coronation outfit: 'A statement look is called for'

The Princess of Wales is set to stun crowds at King Charles' coronation on May 6.

While details of her outfit are being kept a closely-guarded secret, she is expected to choose an ensemble the reflects her "new title."

"All eyes will be focused on the Princess of Wales, who will inevitably attract attention with her classic yet personal style approach," British Fashion Council member Josh Birch Jones told Page Six.

"Kate's new title holds much responsibility, meaning that her participation during the coronation will be heavily watched, so a statement look is called for."

Birch Jones expects Catherine, 41, to wear a dress by favoured British brand Catherine Walker, who was also one of Princess Diana's favourites.

The princess is known for her love of Walker dresses, which she recently wore during this year's Easter Service, as well as last year's Commonwealth Day.

"This piece features a butterfly effect collar which would signify subtle nod to the Princess of Wales' transformation into her new royal title," he explained.

"The royal blue in support of the British flag is inevitably expected to be a popular color for the coronation, so expect to see royals choosing red, white, and blue over the course of the upcoming celebrations."

Princess Charlotte is also often seen dressed in blue for royal events.

Birch Jones expects the princess to complete the outfit with a pair of matching royal blue Manolo Blahnik classic Hangisi heels ($1,180) and a matching custom Philip Treacy hat.

He speculates Catherine will wear jewelry from the royal jewelry collection, possibly "wearing pieces in honour of the late Princess Diana or Queen Elizabeth."

The Princess of Wales hinted at what she'll be wearing to the coronation during a recent visit to the ITV This Morning set.

The Prince and Princess of Wales met host Alison Hammond, who couldn't help but ask for coronation details ahead of the May 6 event.

"I'm feeling like you're gonna wear blue," she told Catherine.

The royal apparently confirmed "a hint of blue" will feature.

Royal protocol states outfit choices should not upstage King Charles and Camilla, the Queen Consort who will be crowned Queen at the ceremony.

Queen Camilla will be dressed by designer Bruce Oldfield, according to reports, the same designer she chose for the recent Buckingham Palace garden party.
