Meghan's friend and Kate's parents among the 2,200 guests who'll make up the congregation at King Charles' coronation

A close friend of the Duchess of Sussex will be among more than 2000 invited guests at the coronation of King Charles III on Saturday.

Edward Enninful, the editor of British Vogue, will take a seat inside Westminster Abbey on May 6 along with other distinguished guests and VIPs.

He formed a close friendship with Meghan when she reached out to him to guest edit the September issue of the magazine, Forces for Change, in 2019.

At the time, he described Meghan as "the country's most influential beacon of change".

Enninful is is a global ambassador of the King's long-time charity The Prince's Trust and recently chaired the Trust's global gala in New York for the second year, raising funds to help support young people.

In April, reacting to King Charles' inclusion on Time 100's Most Influential People In The World list, Enninful said the "monarchy is not perfect" but "in Charles we have a King who understands both tradition and what it takes to evolve with the times. It is a delicate balance and a rare ability".

Overnight, Buckingham Palace shared new details about who will make up the congregation at the coronation of King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla.

Carole and Michael Middleton, the parents of the Princess of Wales, will be there, in recognition of their loyalty and discretion over the years.

But it's unclear whether Kate's two siblings Pippa Matthews and James Middleton, and their spouses, will be invited.

The family of the late Princess Diana are also not expected to be at the coronation, following speculation about invitations extended to Diana's brother and sisters, Earl Spencer, Lady Jane Fellowes and Lady Sarah McCorquodale.

While all three remain close to their nephews, Prince William and Prince Harry, they are not believed to have been included.

One of the late Queen Elizabeth II's ladies-in-waiting from the 1953 coronation, Lady Anne Glenconner, 90, is believed to have been invited.

So has Lady Susan Hussey, who was involved in a racism scandal inside Buckingham Palace last last year.

Her daughter Lady Katherine Brooke will be there as one of the Queen Consort's six "companions".

The ex-husband of Camilla, Andrew Parker Bowles, will also be among the congregation on Saturday.

A total of 2,200 guests are expected to attend the coronation.

They will include members of the royal family, as well as international representatives from 203 countries, including approximately 100 Heads of State, alongside community and charity champions, foreign royals and friends of the King and Queen.
