King Charles sends cheeky message to England football team ahead of Euros final
King Charles issued a congratulatory message to the England football team after their semi-final win over the Netherlands in the Euros on Wednesday night (Thursday AEST).
The monarch showed his sharp wit as he added a cheeky note of advice ahead of their turn in the finals on Sunday.
Referencing their recent nail-biting finishes during the football tournament, being played in Germany, the King asked them to wrap up the win earlier in the game.

"My wife and I join all our family in wishing you the warmest congratulations on reaching the final of the UEFA European Championship - and in sending our very best wishes for Sunday's match," the 75-year-old began.
"If I may encourage you to secure victory before the need for any last minute wonder-goals or another penalties drama, I am sure the stresses on the nation's collective heart rate and blood pressure would be greatly alleviated!"
His Majesty wished "good luck, England" before signing off with a "Charles R" at the bottom of the letter to Gareth Southgate's squad.

King Charles met with Southgate, the former player turned England manager, at a Prince's Trust event last year.
Southgate has been an ambassador for Charles's charity for more than 15 years.
The monarch wasn't the only one to react to the win, Prince William also posted a message on social media, signing off with a W indicating he wrote the post himself.
"What a beauty, Ollie! Congratulations England! #EURO2024 Finalists," William, who is also the Football Association President, shared on X.
While Prince William wasn't at the semi-final game, he did attend the quarter-final match last Saturday.
He is expected to attend in an official capacity on Sunday for the final against Spain.
