Duchess of Cambridge happily gets into den with kids during visit to The Scouts

The Duchess of Cambridge has again shown just what a natural she is with kids and her love of the great outdoors.

Kate Middleton, a former Brownie and Girl Guide herself along with sister Pippa Middleton, visited The Scouts UK on Thursday and wound up in a tree hut.

The Royal gave a big smile as she huddled inside the hut constructed of sticks and leaves by the youngsters around her.

"It's very waterproof, isn't it?" the Duchess laughed as kids tested out pouring water over the den.

The 37-year-old arrived at Gilwell Park wearing a Scouts scarf tied in a friendship knot, worn over a maroon coloured high-neck knit.

Kate sported a khaki jacket over the top and paired the look with skinny black jeans and chunky lace-up boots - perfect for the outdoor conditions.

At the front gate, the Duchess was handed a bunch of flowers by some of the Scouts and the mum-of-three looked over the badges adorning their sleeves.

The Duchess of Cambridge happily took part in a number of activities with the kids across the day, including boat building and balloon rocket assembling.

Kate, who has been volunteering privately with the organisation since 2012, visited to hear about its Early Years pilot, which launched in November and aims to bring Scouting to children between the ages of four and six.

The Royal visit also marked the 100th anniversary year of Gilwell Park, a site on edge of Epping Forest, which is internationally recognised as the home of Scouting.
