Why Kate Middleton won’t be at Prince Charles’ 70th birthday

Celebrations for Prince Charles’ milestone 70th birthday have already kicked off, but the big event is yet to come.

On Wednesday November 14, his actual birthday, there will be a big celebration at Buckingham Palace, but not every family member will be there.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be there, but Prince William and Kate Middleton are going to have to skip the birthday bash.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expected to attend an official engagement at a hostel at Centrepoint on the same day.

The hostel provides emergency accommodation for teenagers and young adults during crisis times.

Princess Diana was a patron of this charity so it’s easy to see why William would opt to support a cause that is no doubt close to his heart.

Kensington Palace confirmed there was a clash of schedules and said while it will be another day of work for William and Kate, it means they will miss the birthday celebrations.

“As a normal working day the Duke and Duchess have official engagements during the daytime visiting important projects in South Yorkshire,” a statement obtained by The Sun read.

“These were of course cleared with Clarence House to make sure they didn’t clash with any birthday celebrations,” the statement continued.

We’re sure that the pair along with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will find another way to celebrate with Charles.

In the lead up to his birthday the BBC released a documentary that gives a look into his private life and it captured an adorable moment with his youngest grandchild.

Charles proudly laughs at his grandson and looks every inch the doting grandparent in the picture which was taken in September in the gardens of Clarence House.
