It showed the behind-the-scenes of the momentous occasion, with the King's family – including Mary and his children, Christian, 28, Isabella, 16, Vincent, 13, and Josephine, 13 – there to support him.

In the video, the family entered the room leading to the balcony where Frederik was to make his first appearance as King, taking the time to soak it in as he embraced government officials in hugs.

Christian, his oldest child and heir, pat his father on the back as the newly-appointed King wiped the tears from his eyes.

As he stood ready to go onto the balcony, Christian and his younger sister Isabella whispered, "We love you," in English to their dad.

He was then welcomes by a crowd of Danes waiting for their new King in front of the palace, as his family proudly watched on from inside.
