Princess Diana memorial ‘insulting’, say social media users

A memorial dedicated to Princess Diana has been slated on social media for its “horrific” design.

The tribute, which is on display in Chesterfield in the UK, has been made to mark the 20th anniversary of the death of the Princess of Wales, but hasn’t had quite the effect the local council were looking for...one twitter user even compared the floral tribute to British TV character Worzel Gummidge.

The memorial was made as part of the town’s traditional “well dressing celebrations”, which involves making pictures using only natural materials...but it seems that the flowers, egg shells and cow parsley used to imitate Diana’s face might not help “bring people to the town” as the local council hoped. 



Social media user Wellbeck Kane said "I live here [Chesterfield] and, let me tell you, I can feel its eyes on me, even now in my house."

Gayla Tuckley added: “Luckily she had a sense of humour and would probably be laughing if she could see it or cared. But still it needs taking down; it’s not nice at all.”
