Prince Harry talks of emotional grief over parents’ toxic marriage breakdown

It was one of the messiest public splits of all time and left millions of fans heartbroken, but now Prince Harry has spoken out about the devastating effects his parents’ divorce had on him and brother William.

The Princes, who were just 10 and eight when their parents announced their separation in 1992 (they officially divorced in 1996), were left feeling as though they were “bouncing between the two of them”, according to Prince Harry.

Charles and Diana’s split came after years of bitterness between the couple, a part of which was Charles’ relationship with now-wife Camilla Parker Bowles.

Following the divorce, they lived separately; Diana at Kensington Palace and Charles living between Highgrove and Clarence House. Parenting of William and Harry was divided, although the young royals have since admitted that they didn’t feel that they were getting enough time with either parent.

The brothers also paid tribute to their mother’s dedication to them both, although Harry admitted that Princess Diana encouraged their cheeky sides by encouraging her sons to be naughty - as long as they didn’t get caught.
