Prince Harry stars in dramatic trailer for his new Netflix show

Prince Harry is returning to the screen ahead of his upcoming passion project, the Invictus Games.

Less than a month out from this year's event in Düsseldorf, fans are getting their first look the new limited series Heart of Invictus, which will debut on Netflix on August 30.

The Duke of Sussex stars prominently in the dramatic official trailer, which features part of his speech to injured servicemen and women taking part in the multi-sporting event.

The clip also shares snippets from stories of competitors from around the globe who took part in the sporting event last year - each of them detailing how it's helped their recovery.

"It is here at Invictus Games that you realise – whatever you carry was the springboard that propelled you to the next level," the royal begins.

In an interview scene with the Duke of Sussex, which appears to be filmed at his Montecito home, he speaks about how his project came about.

"The Games doesn't focus on what causes the injury but the recovery and how to be part of a community again," he says.

In addition to appearing on camera in the limited series, Prince Harry serves as an executive producer.

The multi-episode series is produced by Harry and Meghan's Archewell Productions, along with the Oscar-winning team of director Orlando von Einsiedel and producer Joanna Natasegara (The White Helmets, Virunga, Evelyn).

According to the series announcement, Heart of Invictus will "join the competitors as they train, and along the way reveal powerful stories of resilience and hope" but it will also show organisers dealing with the postponement of the games due to COVID-19.

The next Invictus Games will take place from September 9-16 in the German city, with Prince Harry to attend in person.

His wife, Meghan Markle is expected to join him for part of the competition as she did for last year's games in The Hague.

They are expected to attend a number of events before appearing at the closing ceremony on September 16 where both are due to speak on stage.

It's not the first production the royal's been a part of with the streaming service.

There has been his fly-on-the-wall docuseries Harry & Meghan, as well as Invictus Games documentary Phoenix Rising and the interview-based docuseries Live to Lead, featuring Jacinda Ardern.
