Prince Harry and Meghan Markle advertise for new staff member to work with them at Buckingham Palace

Fans of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been given the opportunity to get close to the couple - every day - thanks to a new job at Buckingham Palace.

The royal couple are gearing up for their wedding and everything that comes with royal life, and with that includes prepping for a much busier schedule following the nuptials. The newlyweds will be expected to take on royal duties, as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge do, and are already looking for a helping hand.

Harry and Meghan have been advertising on LinkedIn for a communications assistant, starting the role in April - a month before the couple marry. The job will be based at Buckingham Palace, and is a 12-month contract.

The person who lands the role will be expected to update official royal social media pages, write for the official royal website and produce press releases about the couple’s duties.

The job will also include assisting the Queen and other members of the royal family; the advertisement says the new staff member will: “provide invaluable support to The Queen and Royal Family, enabling them to fulfil their duties and serve the nation from the magnificent and historic surroundings” of Buckingham Palace.

And anyone wanting to see some of the world will land on their feet. “Although based primarily at Buckingham Palace, you’ll also travel in the UK or overseas to support important visits and engagements,” explains the listing.

But those with skeletons in their closet need not apply; the role is strictly for those with a squeaky clean reputation. “The reaction to our work is always high-profile, and so reputation and impact will be at the forefront of all that you do."

Pay is not stated in the advertisement, but the successful candidate will get 33 days leave and a “comprehensive benefits package”.
