Prince Harry called Meghan Markle his 'ideal woman' two years before they met

Love at first sight. Whether you’re a believer or not, it seems there’s one royal red-head who is.

If rumour is to be believed, our Prince Harry had his eye on his now-girlfriend, glamazon actress Meghan Markle, way before the two met. Like, two years before.

According to royal correspondent Katie Nicholl, long-time Suits fan Harry developed something of a 'celebrity crush’ on Markle, who plays smart and driven paralegal Rachel Zane in the hit series.

Discussing the romance in Channel 4’s upcoming documentary When Harry met Meghan: A Royal Romance, Nicholl suggests Harry has been a fan of the show — and, Markle — since it started airing in 2011.

“He had a crush on Rachel Zane for two years before he met Meghan and the reason I know is because I was having drinks with one of his friends,” Nicholl says in the documentary, which airs in the UK today.

“She [Harry’s friend] told me she’s been on a night out with Prince Harry. He was single at the time, she so said, ‘Harry, who’s your ideal girl?’ And he said, 'Meghan Markle from Suits'.”

Unlike the rest of us mere mortals, it seems when you’re a royal, celebrity crushes aren’t so far-fetched.

Nicholl even goes so far as to suggest Harry actively sought a meeting with Markle, his now-girlfriend of more than a year, asking Soho House consultant and mutual friend Markus Anderson for help setting up an introduction.

Anderson was reportedly at the time in London with Markle, who was there supporting close friend Serena Williams at Wimbledon and the alleged set up occurred in one of the private rooms at Soho House, Nicholl claims.

“There were about seven or eight of them altogether and it was a perfect opportunity for Harry and Meghan to come together in a really informal environment and actually talk.

"She was funny, feisty, confident and she wasn't swayed or knocked by the fact that he was Prince Harry. She thought he was terribly cute," she added.

It it believed the royal romance started shortly after, with Harry telling friends he thought Markle was “a cracking girl”.

The documentary is set to chronicle the relationship of the high-profile couple, who are expected to soon announce their engagement.

It is also said to touch on Markle’s early career, as well as how the royal family have reacted to the relationship.
