Plus-size blogger's defiant message after being told to 'cover up' during bikini shoot

Blogger Anna O’Brien has shared a message of defiance after being told to ‘cover up’ by a security guard during a swimsuit photo shoot.
 
Thanks to her plus-size fashion and lifestyle blog Glitter and Lazers, and her body positive advocacy, O’Brien has won a vast following of online fans.
 
That loyal army is now rallying behind the New Yorker, after a project in Las Vegas took a sour turn earlier this week.
 
Yesterday, O’Brien shared a gorgeous Instagram photo of herself posing in an elaborate hotel lobby, wearing a leopard print bikini.

“I received a reply stating that I was welcome to shoot anywhere in the hotel except the casino floor, provided I had no large equipment,” she told the website.
 
O’Brien and her photographer headed to the lobby to take some photos in her bikini, but were approached by a security guard just five minutes later.
 
“He told me to cover up, that I needed to put clothes on because I wasn’t allowed to be in a swimsuit,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle, saying he “wouldn’t listen” to her explanation. 

“Other women were walking around with as much coverage as me and no one said anything to them,” she added.

The blogger and author’s 250,000 Instagram followers shared her indignation.

“Wait - they asked you to cover up? WTF? Las Vegas is full of women (and men) wearing next to nothing!” one wrote.
 
“Appalling behaviour by the hotel staff. I love everything about this photo and the message. We can choose how we want our bodies to be represented,” another said.
 
Several commenters praised O’Brien for continuing to advocate for body positivity and inclusion.
