After a record number of proposals at the Olympic Games just a few weeks ago, we are now beginning to see the first few proposals for the Paralympic Games.

Also set in Paris, the athletes took advantage of the City of Love to make their lifelong commitments.

Triathlete Lionel Morales Gonzalez kicked it off on August 29, deciding to pop the question to his girlfriend Jessica just outside the Paralympic Village dining hall.

Jessica gave her partner a long hug before accepting the ring, with Gonzalez's delegation members streaming banners and throwing things in the air to celebrate.

The second proposal was done the next day on the courts, with Brazilian badminton player Rogerio Junior Xavier de Oliveira pulling out a sign and a ring box after his latest match.

The sign, reading "Edwarda Will You Marry Me?", is directed to his girlfriend, fellow Paralympian, volleyball player Edwarda Dias.

She was standing in the stands and was seen smiling and covering her mouth in shock at the gesture.

The pair later reunited and took photos together, with the ring on her finger.

The Paris Olympic Games broke the record for the most proposals, officials confirmed.

Tony Estanguet, president of the Paris 2024 Organising Committee, said the record is ''very close to our hearts".

"With your help, Paris 2024 has smashed many other records. Record audiences, record attendances, record decibel levels," he began.

"And, yes, here in Paris we have broken a new record that is very close to our hearts: the most marriage proposals ever at an Olympic Games.
