Simone Biles shuts down Olympics hairstyle critics with gold medal-worthy response
Simone Biles has given a gold medal performance in silencing critics with her response to comments about her hairstyle during the gymnastics qualifying round at Olympic Games Paris 2024.
The US athlete had her hair in a knotted ponytail for the teams event, which seemed to bother some people who shared their thoughts on social media.
In an Instagram Story, Biles revealed her hair was styled to perfection but was impacted by conditions in the bus on the way to the stadium.

"don't come for me about my hair. IT WAS DONE but bus has NO AC & it's like 9,0000 degrees," read the text on a short clip of her cooling herself down with a handheld fan.
She continued in the next slide with a reminder for people to keep their opinions to themselves.
"gonna hold your hand when I say this next time you wanna comment on a black girls hair. JUST DON'T," said the five-time Olympic gold medal winner.

The comments about Biles hair started rolling in on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday despite Biles making a highly anticipated return to the Olympics after withdrawing from Tokyo 2021 after experiencing the twisties.
"I'm just trying to figure out why Simone Biles hair never done ? Like girllll come on STILL LOVE HER AND HOPE SHE DOES GREAT !" one person posted on X.
"Simone Biles hair never being done properly be pissing me off. Everybody else on the team is put together, then she looks like she just rolled out of bed," another wrote on X.

Biles hasn't just been silencing critics of her hair during Paris 2024, she also had the perfect response to a former gymnast who reportedly criticised the US women's gymnastics team's work ethic.
In another Instagram post featuring photos of the team celebrating their gold medal win, Biles silenced that comment with her caption.
"Lack of talent, lazy, olympic champions," she wrote.
As if those responses aren't enough to give Biles a gold medal for her social media captions, she also showed good humour when reflecting on the average age of the US women's gymnastics team.
"okay on the real though, the official team name is golden girls (because oldest olympic team)," she posted on X.
Of course, the name suits perfectly given the team's gold medal winning performance.
Biles will be competing again at the Olympics in the all-round individual finals on Thursday.
