Olympian proposes under the Eiffel Tower: 'Meanwhile, in the City of Love'
With this year's Olympics taking place in the City of Love, it's only fitting one athlete took the golden opportunity to pop the question to his girlfriend in Paris.
US shot putter Payton Otterdahl, 28, got down on one knee under the Eiffel Tower.
In a heartwarming post, the Olympian shared some photos capturing the exact moment he sweetly proposed to his partner of eight years Maddy Nilles.

"Meanwhile, in the City of Love..." he captioned the adorable pic of the proposal with the Eiffel Tower and Olympic rings pictured in the background.
"I love you forever, Maddy Nilles!" Otterdahl added with a red heart emoji.
In another snap, the newly-engaged couple shared a kiss under the iconic Paris monument to celebrate the exciting milestone.
Nilles re-shared the post to her Instagram story with a wholesome message in French.

"Je vous aime," she wrote, also sharing the translated meaning as "I love you" in English.
The post was inundated with messages of congratulations for the lovebirds, including from Team USA shot putter and Olympic silver medalist Joe Kovacs.
"A legendary weekend for you guys. Congrats, and cheers!" one person said.
"You just won your gold medal! It will last a lifetime!" someone commented, with many echoing the sentiment that the shot putter had taken home the best prize.
Otterdahl just missed out on a Olympic medal in Paris, placing fourth in the shot put.

The Team USA and USA Track and Field accounts celebrated the couple's engagement news in a joined Instagram post.
"It's an Olympic proposal," they announced. "Congratulations, Payton and Maddy!"
Otterdahl and Nilles just marked eight years together in March 2024.
In a sweet post, Nilles, who is a Nebraska Track and Field Assistant Coach, shared some throwback photos of the pair and their four-year-old dog over the years.
Nilles was there alongside the athlete's family and friends in June to cheer on her beau as he qualified for his second US Olympic team.
