Patty Mills and wife Alyssa Mills met at university and have been head over heels ever since

Patrick "Patty" Mills is an Australian basketball player who is currently representing Australia at his fifth Olympic Games in Paris 2024.

The Miami Heat player, who plays professionally in the US but returns to his roots for the Olympics, found love with wife Alyssa Levesque in his adopted country.

Together, the pair have travelled to France, with Alyssa supporting her husband and the Boomers in their games whilst wearing our green and gold.

It isn't the first time Alyssa has travelled overseas to cheer on her husband at the Olympics, having visited Tokyo in 2020.

A Canberra native, Patty has played on various NBA teams, including the Brooklyn Nets, Portland Trail Blazers, and others.

The pair's adorable and enduring love story began when they were both at Saint Mary's College in California, United States.

It wasn't love at first sight; the couple were friends first, and their relationship developed over time, starting around 2014.

Three years after dating, the NBA star proposed in May of 2018, putting an eye-catching ring on her finger. 

Patty and Alyssa tied the knot in a luxurious, star-studded wedding ceremony on the stunning beaches of Hawaii. 

Both basketball players, the couple have just celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary, with Alyssa writing on Instagram: "My person forever - 7.7 ♾️ @balapat."

Together, they started their non-profit organisation, Team Mills, which supports community, wildlife protection, and environmental sustainability. 

"Here at Team Mills Foundation, it is that powerful sense of community that drives us," their website reads. 

"So when we say, we're all in, we're all in. Every single one of us wants to give everything we can, that's why you'll hear us say 'we're all hands in'. Because we owe it to our communities. Because everything starts, and ends, with community."

Mills is an Indigenous Australian of Torres Strait (Muralag) and Aboriginal (Kokatha) descent, and he often advocates for Indigenous Australian communities.

The Olympian told ESPN in 2017: "The way that I represent Australia and Indigenous Australia affects other people as well from other cultures. 

"That was a real big eye-opener for me to know that I am doing a good job of what I'm doing and to keep it up and do it the right way."
