Holidaymakers arrive home to nasty note from neighbour

A Perth family has arrived home to a nasty note from their neighbours, sharing a photo of the letter on Facebook.

The note was shared on local paper The Bell Tower Times page, prompting an animated debate about who was in the wrong.

It reads: "Your garden is a disgrace! You should be ashamed. The previous owners kept it immaculate.

"It devalues your property and the values of the properties in surrounding areas."

In incredible 2,300 comments were left following the Facebook post.

"Probably had every intention of catching up with the yard work until they read this note," one Facebook follower commented.

"How did they know their neighbour wasn't in hospital or something, what?? How rudeeee," added another.

Another joked: "They think they're so tough, but they typed it so they couldn't be IDed by their handwriting."

"Yep.... heard of someone copping one once who was going through chemo," added another.

"Probably could have tidied the lawn for them instead of spending all that time writing that note," one Facebook user suggested.

Others sided with the cranky neighbour.

"If you can afford canal front property, you can afford the fortnightly gardener," one said.

However the majority maintained the nasty neighbours were in the wrong.

"I would laminate it and post it on a little picket for everybody to read," one suggested.

"I am glad i have different things, and possibly more adventurous things, to do with my time, other than notice my neighbour's garden status," another commented.

"I came out one morning to my neighbour weeding my front lawn as her house was for sale, goals," one person shared.

"I'm sure my neighbours think the same about my place…at least they keep it amongst themselves," another added.

"Is it bad to say my stubbornness would be so triggered?! This would set in motion at least a three month gardening strike," one local resident suggested.

Another local shared a similar letter they had received.

"Dear Resident. On behalf of those of us residing in Tarcoola Breach who take pride in the area could you please consider maintaining your front yard in a reasonable condition. The property you live in used to have one of the best kept yards on Glendinning Road and now it looks as if the property has been abandoned! Is it really that difficult to pull out weeds and mow the grass?

"If you are physically not well enough to maintain the yard, then please consider contacting some of the local charity or church organisations to tidy the property," the note continued. "Sadly, your front yard is an eye sore."

Once again, a Facebook conversation ignited.

"Judging from the state of the paper, I'd say you gave the note the respect it deserved," one person commented.

"Back in the day neighbours would offer to help run a lawn mower over a neighbour's property if it was likely that the individual was struggling for any reason, not suggest contacting a local charity," another shared.
