Sydney man praised for 'thoughtful' response to neighbour's 'entitled' act
A Sydney resident has chosen what he thinks might be a "passive aggressive" solution to a rather annoying problem in his building.
It seems one of his neighbours has taken to smoking and flicking their cigarette butts off the balcony.
Do this for any period of time a few times a day and you'll end up with quite a collection of unsightly discarded cigarette butts scattered in one area of the building.

The resident shared the note he'd written in response on Reddit's 'Sydney' thread
"Does this seem a bit too passive aggressive? Instead of calling strata I did this instead, bought a $1 ashtray after I physically saw the guy flicking ashes and then the ciggy butt off the balcony," he wrote.
"And yes, I'm a 40 year old man that writes like a 4 year old child."
The note, which is positioned under an ashtray they had purchased, read: "Hi there neighbour. I would really like it if you would use this ashtray instead of flicking the ashes or butts off the balcony.
"It blows onto ours and is not so nice to clean up or to get it in they eyes."
He ended the note by saying: "Sincerely another neighbour" and drew a smiley face.

Redditors have expressed their approval for how he has chosen to tackle the situation.
"I see this much better than contacting Strata and going down that avenue," one said.
"Plus it offers a real solution for both parties. A beautiful compromise," another added.
One person disputed their choice of the phrase "passive aggressive."
"Passive aggressive would be collecting all his butts and shoving them under his door," they said.

One Redditor commented: "I had the same problem so I started throwing his smoke buds back on his balcony that sure fixed the problem!!"
"You got them an ashtray. That's thoughtfulness right there," another said.
Another said: "As a smoker and a renter, I would appreciate it if someone gave me a note like this before getting strata involved."
