Dad and daughter jailed after killing neighbour over football

A father and his daughter who killed a neighbour when she popped a child’s football have been jailed for a total of 14 years. 
 
Natalie Bollen, 28, and her dad William Jelly, 48, punched their neighbour Kelly Machin during an argument over the football, which she deflated with a knife. Machin was pushed into a coffee table, leading to internal bleeding, according to The Sun. 
 
Both Bollen and Jelly were unanimously convicted of manslaughter by a jury, and given a sentence of 7 years each. 
 
Machin had reportedly become fed up with the ball, which belonged to one of Bollen’s four children, being kicked over her fence repeatedly. Bollen, from Leicester, UK and a group of women went over to the neighbour’s house and banged on the door shouting: “You might not come out now Kelly, but I’m going to kill ya.”
 
They left, but Bollen returned 20 minutes later with her father. They barged into the house, where Bollen punched Machin in the face several times before Jelly pushed her backwards into a table, leaving her with five broken ribs and rupturing her chest cavity. 
 
She received hospital treatment for her injuries, but died in her home ten days later from internal bleeding shortly before she was due to have an operation. 
 
As he announced the verdict, Judge Nicholas QC said: “You went to Kelly Machin’s home when both were in an irate and volatile state of mind.

“You both showed little remorse.

“Whether her death was painful we cannot know, but it was certainly lonely.”
