The most common excuse cheaters give their partners
Many of us say that we want a partner who keeps fit and healthy, maybe one who spends a decent amount of time at the gym.
But according to a recent survey, maybe all that time at the "gym" isn't doing your relationship any favours — it might just mean that your significant other is looking to stray.
Illicit Encounters, a dating site for people who are already in relationships that touts itself as a 'married-dating website', surveyed 2,000 of its users to determine the most popular excuses used by cheaters.

According to the website, the following are the most-used alibis for people who are cheating on their partner.
Women's top ten cheating excuses:
- Going to the gym
- Night out with the girls
- Working late in the office
- Socialising after work
- Walking the dog
- Shopping
- Seeing relatives
- Meeting best friend
- Gone for a beauty treatment
- Playing sport
Men's top ten cheating excuses:
- Watching football

- Working late in the office
- Socialising after work
- Boys night out
- Walking the dog
- Going to the gym
- Playing sport
- Meeting best friend
- Seeing relatives
While women's top excuses included going to the gym and seeing their closest girlfriends, it seems as though most of men's alibis were sport-related: watching football or playing golf.

While, obviously, just because your partner may be telling you that they're getting a workout in doesn't mean that they have a wandering eye, it is interesting to know that these are the alibis used by cheaters.
Maybe from now on you should consider getting a sweat session in alongside your significant other, which will not only help boost fitness levels and give you some much-appreciated bonding time, it might just be the way to stop their wandering eye.
Or, an even crazier idea: cheaters of the world, end your relationships before straying to another person! Nobody deserves the pain of realising their loved one has been unfaithful.
