Groceries are more expensive than ever so leading into Christmas, where we tend to spend even more, we're all looking for ways to save.
A UK woman has revealed her tried and tested money saving hack for the festive season and it's not too late to start doing it now yourself.
In a TikTok, Meg explained how she spreads her Christmas grocery shop out throughout the year, which is something that she does every Christmas.

"From the first of September until Christmas Day on every single weekly shop I buy like one small long life Christmas item," she said holding up a box of Cadbury chocolates.
"It basically means when I get to Christmas and condiments and stuff like that already bought so it eases like the financial difficulties around Christmas and obviously when it's a couple of pounds coming out of your weekly shop every week you don't really notice it as opposed to going out at Christmas and spending like £100 (AU $195.91) on random snacks."

While we're past September now, there are six weeks until Christmas, which means you still have time to get at least one non-perishable Christmas item like chips, chocolates, serviettes, biscuits and soft drink.
If you base your choice of item or items you buy each week leading up to Christmas on sales you can stretch your budget even further, and potentially even squeeze two or three items in.
Then on Christmas Eve you only need to buy your fresh produce.
Meg's followers loved the budgeting hack with some already practicing it themselves.
"Girl. The Christmas cupboard has been an Irish legend for over 60 years lol," a woman said.
"I do this too makes life easier," a TikToker wrote.
"I've been doing this for years, it's such a great way to spread the cost. When my children were little, I'd start buying all their Xmas presents/toys from June & put them away," another commented.
However, some people did point out a potential problem with this hack.
"My issue is I'd find these and eat them before Christmas," one said.
"I've always done this but I have a bad day at work and eat them all," posted another.

For those who know they won't be able to leave the snacks in a cupboard until Christmas an alternative hack was suggested.
"Or if not put the money aside that you would spend and then do it in 1 go," one commented.
