A man's determination to make sure the bottle of laundry detergent he buys is completely full has sparked debate online.

The shopper is a friend of TikToker Davey Bad, who shared a video on the platform showing his mate in a supermarket aisle pouring detergent from one bottle into another to fill it up.

"We all got that one friend," Bad captioned the clip.

In the video, the man takes quite some time to fill the $19.94 Tide detergent bottle as he comments that "I don't care, I'm going to get all of the worth, I'm going to fill it to the top".

In response Bad says, "Pinching the f--- out of those pennies".

The extremely frugal hack received a mixed response from viewers who shared their thoughts in the comments section.

Some people worried that using one bottle to fill another would end badly for another shopper.

"And someone else gets one that's practically empty," one said.

However, one person suspected that this had already happened to Bad's friend, given the time it took for him to fill the detergent bottle.

"Someone must've used his bottle to pour in another bottle the way he pouring for that long," they said.

Others were OK with the cheeky move after experiencing shrinkflation – when the contents of a product decreases in size but the price remains the same – themselves.

"I don't know what's worse the detergent or the chip bags being half empty," a viewer commented.

"I'm about to do the same thing to the chips next," another wrote.

Many admitted that they either already do this or want to try it to help save money during the cost of living crisis.

"I just did this I need all my money," one posted.

"I need to stop being scared and do the same thing times hard," a viewed said.

"My parents do this," commented a TikToker.

"That's crazy cause I was thinking I was being cheap for doing the sammmeee thing," another wrote.

Meanwhile, others had plenty to say about the shopper's pouring technique, which resulted in plenty of detergent spilling over the top of the bottle.

"One of y'all need to hold it and then one uses the cap so it doesn't over pour & goes slowly," a TikToker said.

But Bad has no plans to join in on his friend's antics any time soon.

"Oh no baby I'm not nobody's accomplice," he said.
